What Are the Concerns of Concrete Lifting?

Are you concerned about your concrete? Do you have a sunken sidewalk, a sagging patio, or an uneven driveway? If so, these may be signs of sunken concrete. But how did that happen?

Climate and erosion are the biggest culprits responsible for your concrete concerns. Sadly, Illinois weather is not kind to concrete. The constantly changing weather forces your concrete to repeatedly expand and contract, eventually leading to a shifting of the ground below your driveway, sidewalks, and surrounding the foundation. Erosion also comes into play when, over time, excessive rain, damaged water and sewer lines, and improperly placed downspouts slowly wear away the soil under your concrete, washing it away and leaving a gap, causing the concrete to sink. These uneven concrete surfaces not only take away from the beauty of your home, but they can pose a risk of trips and falls and damage vehicle tires.

So, what do I do now? Fixing my concrete sounds messy and expensive. It doesn’t have to be with the help of Metro Insulation.

Concrete Lifting: The Perfect Solution

At Metro Insulation, we offer concrete lifting (AKA slabjacking or mudjacking), an effective solution that’s affordable, quick, and environmentally friendly to restore stability and safe ty to your uneven concrete surfaces. The process of concrete lifting is straightforward and simple:

  1. Drill: Holes the size of a dime are strategically drilled around the areas where the concrete has sunk and requires lifting.
  2. Pump: Concrete injection lifting foam is injected into the holes where it expands and fills in the uneven space under the slab, raising the concrete to its original position.
  3. Patch: The holes are patched with new cement.

Our concrete lifting services will remove trip hazards, create standard steps, re-pitch slabs for proper drainage, stabilize slabs that move, and support slabs after washout. By choosing concrete lifting over replacement, you can enjoy level, safe, and aesthetically pleasing surfaces, all while minimizing waste and promoting sustainability.

Other concrete lifting benefits include:

  • Cost effectiveness: Concrete lifting is about half the cost of replacing concrete.
  • Time: The entire process takes about two hours and is ready to use immediately.
  • Clean work environment: There is no concrete or grout splatter, no wash down needed and no heavy equipment to drive through your prized landscaping.
  • Smaller holes: The holes used in concrete lifting are only the size of a dime (5/8”) and there are far fewer holes drilled than with traditional mud jacking.
  • Long-lasting: The lifting foam will never lose density and is a lightweight, permanent material.
